History

Kerry Coaches began in 1957 when Johnny Buckley and his wife Mary B first provided transportation to the visitors in the Killarney area with the traditional horse and cart (locally known as a Jaunting Car). This quickly increased and in 1960 incorporated their first vehicle, a Ford Zephyr. Throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s “JJ Buckley & Sons”, as it was then known continued to expand and added 3 new VW Microbuses.

In 1979, Mike Buckley took over the business from his father and it was renamed “Buckley’s Tours”. The office was based in the front room of Mike’s home and the fleet was now a grand total of 6 vehicles, with seating capacity of 20 people. However, Mike had inherited great entrepreneurial skills from his father and teamed up with local businessman, Billy Daly and formed “Kerry Coaches”.  Kerry Coaches focused on the booming American market and large group travel and continued to thrive with repeat clients throughout the 1990’s.

By the end of the Millennium, Mike and his team began to outgrow the old office and built the custom designed facilities which we still call home today. Located just on the edge of Killarney town it now boasts state of the art garage facilities, a modern office and an expanding team of 100 plus staff.

In 2008 Mike took full control of Kerry Coaches and merged it with Buckley’s Coaches. Today it is an awarding winning company with over 75 luxury vehicles. It is also joined by 3rd generation, Johnny Buckley (named after his Grandfather) who became transport manager in 2009. Since then the company has continued to be at the forefront of innovation and service both Nationally and Internationally.
